The term "network marketing" always stirs up strong passions and emotions when it comes up in conversations. People either seem to love the thought of it or they hate it. So, how can something that is meant to be good also create such hostile feelings among people?

A lot of the top network marketing companies in the world have taken a lot of heat because of the misunderstandings that have been created among individuals about this industry. This industry has caused a lot of broken relationships around the world and still continues till this day. Why is that?

When you hear the term network marketing what emotions get stirred up inside of you?

Do you think of financial freedom, achieving your dreams, getting out of debt, and firing your boss? Or do you think of terms like pyramid scheme, scam, and bothering your friends and family?

Some of the top network marketing companies that have taken a lot of heat in this industry are Monavie, Amway, Prepaid Legal, Nuskin, and Herbalife. No matter what you think about these companies, no one can dispute that these companies are legitimate and have paved the way for this industry.

These companies have a strong foundation and continue to be powerhouses in the industry.

The harsh reality is that no matter how respected and legitimate a company is, someone will always have a negative opinion about them.

Do you really think that there's a perfect company out there today? The truth is that there isn't one. All companies have their flaws.

The more successful a person or company becomes the more people like to criticize them and bring them down.

Some of the top network marketing companies have gained a bad reputation over the years because they still teach their distributors to use the traditional network marketing business model to build a business.

The problem with a lot of these companies is that they still have their distributors attend seminar meetings, bother friends and family, and show the plan 5 nights a week.

Distributors also have to commit to auto-ship programs, purchase business tools, and go to weekly and monthly seminar meetings. This way of doing business is still valid but it's turned a lot of people off.

People are becoming less interested in using these methods of doing business and more interested in building an internet based business. These techniques have become stale and don't work as much anymore.

The term network marketing has become outdated. People are more interested in work from home and internet marketing business opportunities. Who wants to leave the house to build a business when they can make money from home.

The internet has made it convenient to be able to work from home without having to cold contact people and bother family and friends. People can now invest that same time into running a business out of their home instead.

If you want to have success in any business, it's still important to build relationships with your prospects. The internet could tend to make things impersonal so it's vital to have a human contact approach with your prospects when running an internet business.

Going to motivational seminars, having a positive mindset, and listening to motivational CD's are also still important. You will also still need to invest money into your business and yourself if you want to have success.

The only way for the top network marketing companies to survive is to start getting with the times. They need to teach people how use the internet to help build their business instead of using the old methods of generating leads.

The internet is where it's at. There are a countless number of ways to generate leads online using all of the different social media outlets that are out there today. Uplines need to teach their distributors how to use these methods to generate leads.

They need to teach their members the benefits of internet marketing and how to use it effectively. If they don't, they're going to lose their distributors to major online business companies.

Let's face it, the Internet is here and it's here to stay. If these companies want to survive, they need to embrace the internet and use the advantages it brings to grow their business.

These companies need to use their solid reputation, strong principles, and business ethics, and start bringing their business models online if they want to survive. The old ways of building a network marketing business are done.

The internet is here and it's here to stay. These companies have a choice to make. Either join the 21st century and thrive or stay in the olden days and disappear.
